About the role
About Us
We are a staffing services technology company that helps organizations design, build, and scale digital products and engineering capabilities. Our teams deliver end-to-end software development, engineering, and design services, and we provide flexible staffing solutions to augment internal teams with specialized talent—quickly and reliably.
The Role
We are looking for a talented Structural Engineer to join our distributed engineering team. Whether you are a mid-career engineer looking to broaden your scope in building structures/infrastructure or a senior-level Structural Design Engineer ready to lead critical analysis and design decisions, we have a spot for you on our ladder. You will work across the full project lifecycle, bridging the gap between structural design, construction documentation, and regulatory compliance to ensure project safety, reliability, and constructability.
What You’ll Do
• Design & Develop: Design, analyze, and develop complex structural systems, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures for buildings, bridges, and specialty infrastructure using structural analysis and design tools (ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM Structural System, or Revit Structure).
• Collaborate: Work closely with Civil Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers in an Agile project environment to define structural requirements, loading conditions, material specifications, and project budgets.
• Testing & Validation: Ensure high reliability and compliance; design and execute rigorous structural review plans, perform construction document quality checks, and conduct root cause analysis on structural deficiencies or performance issues.
• Architecture: Contribute to system-wide project decisions (structural system selection, foundation design, lateral force resisting systems) and help evolve the engineering approach to meet future project and client roadmaps.
• DFM & Supply Chain: Work with contractors and construction managers to optimize designs for constructability and value engineering; manage material specifications and structural details to mitigate supply chain and cost risks.
• Compliance & Safety: Implement rigorous design standards in accordance with applicable building codes and structural standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, AASHTO) and ensure all designs meet safety and performance requirements.
• Mentorship: (For Senior+ roles) Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex structural design challenges, load analysis, and drawing/plan set reviews.
• Maintenance: Assess, rehabilitate, and upgrade existing structural systems; manage lifecycle evaluations for aging infrastructure and maintain client and agency technical relationships.
What We’re Looking For
• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Structural or Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience: 3–10+ years of hands-on structural engineering experience in building design, bridge engineering, infrastructure, or a related project-focused industry.
• CAD/BIM Proficiency: Strong experience with structural design and analysis tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM Structural System, and Revit Structure; proficiency in generating detailed construction drawings and structural plan sets.
• Structural Analysis: Experience with advanced structural analysis including linear and nonlinear static analysis, dynamic analysis, and seismic/wind load design in accordance with ASCE 7 and applicable codes.
• Materials & Systems: Solid understanding of structural steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, timber, and masonry design principles and their respective code requirements (AISC, ACI, NDS, TMS).
• Foundation Design: Knowledge of shallow and deep foundation systems, soil-structure interaction, and geotechnical report interpretation for structural design applications.
• Regulatory & Permitting: Deep knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and structural standards including IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and AASHTO; experience navigating plan review and permitting processes.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote, distributed team environment and communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Construction Administration: Hands-on experience supporting construction administration, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site observations.
Bonus Points
• Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; SE (Structural Engineer) license is a strong plus; additional certifications such as PMP or LEED AP are a bonus.
• Seismic & Wind Design: Deep expertise in seismic design, wind load analysis, and performance-based engineering for high-risk or high-importance structures.
• Bridge & Transportation: Experience designing complex bridge and transportation infrastructure in coordination with state DOTs or federal agencies (FHWA, FTA).
• Forensic Engineering: Experience in forensic structural investigations, failure analysis, and structural condition assessments.
• Sustainability & Resilience: Familiarity with sustainable structural design practices including mass timber, low-carbon concrete, and climate resilience planning.
• High-Rise & Complex Structures: Experience with the structural design of high-rise buildings, long-span structures, or other complex and iconic projects.
• Compliance: Familiarity with specific regulatory standards such as IBC, ASCE 41 for seismic rehabilitation, or AASHTO LRFD for bridge design.
• BIM & Digital Delivery: Experience with BIM coordination workflows, clash detection (Navisworks), and model-based construction documentation.
