About the role
About Us
We are a staffing services technology company that helps organizations design, build, and scale digital products and engineering capabilities. Our teams deliver end-to-end software development, engineering, and design services, and we provide flexible staffing solutions to augment internal teams with specialized talent—quickly and reliably.
The Role
We are looking for a talented Project Engineer to join our distributed engineering team. Whether you are a mid-career engineering professional looking to broaden your scope in construction/infrastructure project delivery or a senior-level Project Engineer ready to lead critical technical coordination and project execution decisions, we have a spot for you on our ladder. You will work across the full project lifecycle, bridging the gap between engineering design, construction management, and project controls to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of technical quality.
What You’ll Do
• Project Execution: Support and lead the day-to-day technical execution of complex engineering and construction projects; coordinate engineering deliverables, track project milestones, and ensure alignment between design intent and field construction activities.
• Collaborate: Work closely with Project Managers, Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Project Controls Engineers, and Construction Managers in an Agile project environment to define project requirements, engineering deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
• Technical Coordination: Serve as the primary technical point of contact between engineering design teams and field construction teams; review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to support construction activities.
• RFI & Submittal Management: Manage the RFI (Request for Information) and submittal review process; prepare, track, and respond to RFIs and submittals in a timely manner to avoid construction delays and maintain project momentum.
• Schedule & Cost Support: Support project controls activities including schedule updates, cost tracking, and change order management; monitor project progress against baseline schedules and budgets and escalate variances to the Project Manager.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce project quality management plans; conduct field inspections, review test reports, and ensure all engineering and construction activities comply with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and escalate project technical risks and issues; support the development and implementation of risk mitigation plans to minimize project cost and schedule impacts.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all project engineering and construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations; support the development and enforcement of project health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plans.
• Mentorship: (For Senior+ roles) Mentor junior engineers and project support staff; provide technical leadership on complex engineering coordination challenges and project delivery issues.
• Reporting: Prepare and distribute regular project status reports, meeting minutes, and technical documentation to project teams, clients, and executive stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Experience: 3–10+ years of hands-on project engineering experience in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, power, transportation, or a related project-focused industry.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of engineering design principles, construction methods, and project delivery processes across one or more engineering disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical).
• RFI & Submittal Management: Proven experience managing RFI and submittal workflows on large-scale engineering and construction projects; ability to review and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Project Controls: Working knowledge of project controls principles including schedule management (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), cost tracking, earned value management (EVM), and change control processes.
• Quality Management: Experience implementing and enforcing project quality management plans; familiarity with quality control inspection procedures, non-conformance reporting, and corrective action processes.
• Contract Knowledge: Solid understanding of engineering and construction contract types (NEC, FIDIC, EJCDC, AIA) and the contractual obligations of the project engineer role.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote, distributed team environment and communicate project status and technical issues clearly to engineers, contractors, clients, and executive stakeholders.
• Construction & Engineering Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction sequencing, engineering design workflows, procurement processes, and field construction activities to effectively coordinate between design and construction teams.
Bonus Points
• Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineering (PE) license; additional certifications such as LEED AP or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) are a plus.
• BIM & Digital Delivery: Experience with BIM coordination workflows, clash detection (Navisworks), and model-based construction documentation; familiarity with digital project delivery platforms (Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar).
• Oil & Gas / Energy: Experience on large-scale oil & gas, LNG, power generation, or renewable energy projects including EPC and EPCM delivery models.
• Transportation & Infrastructure: Experience on complex transportation, highway, bridge, or transit projects in coordination with state DOTs or federal agencies (FHWA, FTA).
• Federal Contracting: Experience working on federally funded projects with strict regulatory compliance, reporting, and documentation requirements (FAR/DFARS).
